True set-and-forget
Once a series is configured, new videos are written, rendered and posted without you touching them.
A faceless-channel autopilot: set up a series once and it writes, renders and posts a new short on a schedule. It is a good tool for what it was built for. This page is for creators who want original cartoon stories instead, and are weighing whether AutoShorts.ai is the right fit or something else would serve them better.

Full disclosure: we make CartoonMakerAI, one of the alternatives below. We list where AutoShorts.ai is the better choice too, and every price links to its source.
What AutoShorts.ai is
AutoShorts.ai is built around a Series: you choose a topic or custom prompt, a visual style and a voice, and it produces and auto-posts a new short to TikTok, YouTube or Instagram at a set frequency. Videos are made from AI-generated still images, one per scene, with voiceover and background music. Motion credits turn some stills into animated clips. Styles include Disney Toon, Childrens Book, Comic Book, Lego and Minecraft looks. Videos are 30–90 seconds; long-form is not offered. Generated videos are kept for 120 days.
Where it shines
Once a series is configured, new videos are written, rendered and posted without you touching them.
Plans are defined by how often you post, and none of the paid plans carry a watermark.
Every video comes with a voiceover and music, so it is postable as-is.
Where it falls short
Motion is rationed by motion credits (27–124 a month), so most scenes are stills with camera movement rather than animation.
Videos max out at 90 seconds and the product is built around series, so one-off or long-form videos do not fit.
AutoShorts says it cannot offer refunds, and videos are deleted after 120 days.
Why creators switch
01
Slideshow-style stills can feel low-effort next to channels with fully animated scenes.
02
Fully automated posting means less review of each video, which matters for kids' content and brand-safe channels.
03
Story channels on YouTube often want multi-minute episodes, which AutoShorts does not produce.

Our honest gaps
The free plan is for testing styles with images. Video starts on Starter, so you cannot try a full video without paying.
There is no built-in voiceover or text-to-speech. Faceless channels that rely on a narrator add the voice track in an editor afterwards.
You direct each video through the brief and style, not a timeline. If you need to place a character's hand at an exact frame, an animation editor gives you more control.
Video is 2 credits per second. A 10-minute story is 1,200 credits, more than any single monthly plan includes, so long formats need top-ups.
The short version
AutoShorts.ai wins on automation: it posts for you, with narration. CartoonMakerAI wins on the footage itself: each scene is generated video in a chosen cartoon style, and stories can run up to 10 minutes. But you post manually and add narration yourself.
