Long native clips
15 seconds per generation on 3.0 and 30 on 4.0 — among the longest single clips available.
A cinematic, realism-first video model with native audio, multi-shot generation and strong reference consistency. It is a good tool for what it was built for. This page is for creators who want original cartoon stories instead, and are weighing whether Kling AI is the right fit or something else would serve them better.

Full disclosure: we make CartoonMakerAI, one of the alternatives below. We list where Kling AI is the better choice too, and every price links to its source.
What Kling AI is
Kling's generally available flagship is Kling 3.0, which generates 3–15 seconds per clip at 720p, 1080p or native 4K, optionally with native audio — dialogue, sound effects and lip movement in several languages. Multi-Shot builds several shots inside one generation, and Elements (up to seven references) keep characters consistent. Kling 4.0, announced in September 2026, extends clips to 30 seconds and is rolling out. Kling is cheap per second at entry level, but stories longer than one generation still have to be extended or edited together, and Kling's terms ask that outputs be labelled as Kling AI.
Where it shines
15 seconds per generation on 3.0 and 30 on 4.0 — among the longest single clips available.
Dialogue, sound effects and lip-sync generated with the video, in several languages.
At 6 credits per second at 720p, the entry plan buys almost two minutes of silent video.
Where it falls short
Kling's official pages focus on cinematic realism and do not document cartoon or anime presets.
Kling's terms require outputs to be labelled as Kling AI, and the free tier is watermarked and non-commercial.
List, promo and renewal prices differ, so the real monthly cost is not obvious at first glance.
Why creators switch
01
A model tuned for realism takes extra prompting to hold a consistent cartoon style across scenes.
02
A three-minute story is still a dozen generations to extend or edit together.
03
Kling's requirement to label outputs as Kling AI does not suit every channel or client.

Our honest gaps
The free plan is for testing styles with images. Video starts on Starter, so you cannot try a full video without paying.
There is no built-in voiceover or text-to-speech. Faceless channels that rely on a narrator add the voice track in an editor afterwards.
You direct each video through the brief and style, not a timeline. If you need to place a character's hand at an exact frame, an animation editor gives you more control.
Video is 2 credits per second. A 10-minute story is 1,200 credits, more than any single monthly plan includes, so long formats need top-ups.
The short version
Kling is the better model for realistic scenes with dialogue at a low price per second. CartoonMakerAI is the better workflow for cartoon channels: fixed cartoon styles and finished multi-scene videos without editing, but no native dialogue.
Frequently asked questions
CartoonMakerAI for finished cartoon stories in fixed styles; Pika for short stylized clips with character sheets; OpenArt for many models and a character builder.
The Basic plan is free, but it includes no monthly plan credits, output appears watermarked, and Kling says Basic content is not for commercial use.
Kling 3.0 generates 3–15 seconds per clip; Kling 4.0, rolling out from October 2026, generates up to 30 seconds.
Kling's membership FAQ says paid subscribers may use output commercially (but not to build competing products), and its terms require outputs to be labelled as Kling AI.
